Google is taking action against two scam Google Money Kit and Google Money System. The 2 systems have been promoting themselves on Adwords, and now will have their accounts banned. On top of that, Google Money Kit is not even found in search results, with a complaint taking up #1 for the phrase “google money kit”.

SEO Roundtable also reports that Google is taking action against other known scams that use Adwords to advertise. Aaron Wall has long criticized Google for letting scammers have free way on Adwords, and finally big G is taking action. The scam industry is a multi million dollar business, which makes rich quite a few dogs, willing to take people’s money.

I hope we will see many of the big and obvious scams go down in flames.

As far as the soft scams, like get rich quick - they will always be there, because there’s an army of people, who are new to the internet, and will have to make a couple bad mistakes before learning the ropes.

Google started offering advanced features for real estate searches on Google maps. If you do any searches such as a city name + real estate, Google will offer you an option to do a deeper search. If you do chose to do a deeper search, you will see hundreds of real estate listings on maps.

There’s also an option to refine search by square footage, number of rooms, area and more.

Google gets real estate data from Google Base and from other real estate search engine providers. The real estate listing websites have called Google a scraper site, and voiced a negative view of the search engine, so Google has an uphill battle, to change the view of real estate listing website, make them access their databases and the same time figure out how to monetize newly released feature.

The Google Guide - Google recommends adjusting titles with keywords, making sure there are keywords in the content, but most importantly document stresses the importance of making a quality website. As for link building, Google says build a quality website and links will come flowing in.

Bing SEO Guide - Bing SEO guide does not give much SEO tips, rather it points out new Bing features. The features are related searches in the left side pane, search history, best match, how Bing categorizes and more.

You can add this to the list together with Nigerian Fortunes. The question I have, do people really buy this? It seems like they do, because scammers continue to blast similar email to all the addresses they can get their hands on.

Google Webmaster tools is open to suggestion to new products and everyone with a Webmaster account is welcome to share their ideas on what Google should create or functionalities it should add to its roster of applications.

Oppppsss… Google made a big bo-bo and displayed wrong information about Michael Jackson’s death:

What happened there? Google’s snippet was pulled from Wikipedia page about Michael Jackson the writer who died in 2007 at the age of 65, instead of the pop music king. The problem has been quickly fixed by the Googlers but MANY people were exposed to the wrong information, including me.

The snippet was pulled algorithmically without human intervention, so this shows just how much of Google is automated.

On the topic of Michael Jackson.

Google wasn’t the only search engine that honored the pop star that day. Yahoo went as far as sending reporters to the hospital for the coverage of the event. They also recorded number of clicks, beating the election day from 15.1 million to 16.4 million. As a content destination with writers and editors, Yahoo took a more editorial event on the issue. They’ve included stories from major news sources on the sidebars. Yahoo also called staff who were off to help with the overload of traffic.

Bing’s performance was poor, as it showed information for Michael Jackson on the bottom of the page instead of featuring it in the most prominent spot on top of the page.

Personally I think Yahoo did the best job because they are a search engine / content destination. Google is number 2, because the algorithmic error, while Bing is still number 3.
